Surgery & Hospitalisation

All cats and dogs due to be admitted for surgery (or investigations) should be given nothing to eat at all from 9.00pm the evening before, while water should be left available until the morning.

Rabbits, guinea pigs etc should not have food or water withheld.

On admission, you will be asked to sign a consent form (the signee should be at least 18 years' old). We will examine your animal at this time and can discuss any questions that have arisen. For this reason, we ask that you allow sufficient time when dropping off an animal for the day.

If your animal needs to be hospitalised with us overnight, we'll discuss the level of care needed with you on an individual basis.

Home Visits

We can arrange home visits at an extra cost. However, many procedures cannot be carried out in the home.

In many emergencies, it is critical for your pet’s health to bring them to the surgery, where appropriate facilities and equipment are available.

Prescriptions

If ongoing medication is required, we usually dispense a month’s supply each time. Please phone us in good time (48 hours’ notice) to request more medication so that we can ensure the medication is ready for you to collect.

Our policy is to re-examine animals every three months, enabling us to monitor any changes. We charge a reduced fee in these cases.

If you prefer to source prescription medication from elsewhere, we can provide a written prescription which you can obtain at a suitable pharmacy (including online). We require 24 hours’ notice for written prescription requests and do charge for this service. In order to reduce prescription fraud, we will send the written prescription directly to the online pharmacy upon receipt of a copy of your pharmacy order number.

Specialist Referrals

When appropriate, we advise referrals to Veterinary Specialists for the most advanced levels of care.

Do not hesitate to ask if you would appreciate a second opinion.

Payments

As is commonly known, high-quality veterinary care is not cheap! In order to provide the best possible care for your pets, we utilise a lot of expensive equipment, which has to be paid for and maintained. Keeping good staff and updating our skills are other expenses, which have to be met from the fees charged. We endeavour to charge fair and realistic prices.

We cannot always estimate the exact cost of treatment in advance, but we will give you as much information as we can, even for minor procedures. Please ask for an estimate as required. If treatment, originally unplanned, becomes necessary, we will do everything possible to keep you informed and seek your agreement before proceeding.

Loyalty Cards: a stamp will be given for each transaction in the clinic over £50 per day. After collecting 6 stamps, a discount of £10 will be given when spending over £10 and a new loyalty card issued.

Insurance

Illnesses that require modern, sophisticated treatments can become expensive. We recommend that you consider taking out pet insurance, or setting a sum of money aside to cover unexpected costs.

In the event of an insurance claim, you will need to pay for the treatment and then claim the fees back from the insurance company. You will need to provide an insurance claim form with the owner's section completed and your policy details. A fee is charged for processing insurance claims. We aim to complete and submit insurance claims within 14 days of receipt. We will complete the veterinary section and provide full, itemised invoices and medical notes as required. Please note that we are not able to send the forms directly to your insurance company so you will need either to collect the completed insurance form or provide an envelope, stamped and addressed to yourself when you give us the claim form. A small charge is made to cover postage if an envelope is not provided. We aim to complete and return insurance claim forms within 7 days of receipt.

Finance

If finance may be a problem, please discuss this with us before treatment commences. All payments are due at the time of treatment. A late payment fee will be added to any overdue account.

We accept VISA, Switch, Mastercard or cash.

Please note all accounts beyond our credit terms will incur late payment fees and will be passed to our debt collection agency. These accounts will also be subject to any legal costs incurred in obtaining settlement.
